Competition Guidelines

Competition Readiness

In order for your skater to be ready for competition, they must PRACTICE! Skaters must skate at least once a week (preferably 2-3x a week) in order to adequately train for a competition. Because of limited ice availability, skaters must be enrolled in group class in order to compete. The 30 minute practice session at the end of each class will serve as their training time. Skaters in Compete USA will skate to a program approximately 1:00-1:40 in length.

Fees

Practice session fees are dependent on the skater- This number depends on how often the skater attends group classes, public skate, and private lessons. Each 1.5 hour group class is $25, private lessons are $35 for a 30 minute lesson, and public skate sessions are $10 (+$5 skate rental). Skaters MUST be enrolled in at least one group class per week (recommended 2-3 per week).
All competitions will be held in Texas, so travel fees differ depending on location. There will be a coaching travel fee of $100 per skater. This fee will cover the coach's travel, hotel, and coaching expenses.
Compete USA competitions offer practice sessions for skaters at the venue. Pricing for these sessions will vary between competitions.

Competition Day

On competition day please arrive at the rink two hours prior to your competition time. This will allow skaters time for check in, off-ice warm ups, any possible wardrobe or cosmetic touch ups, and on-ice warm up. Please eat a light meal and bring dry snacks prior to competition. After your skater's entire group has competed, you will wait in the designated area where results will be announced

Competition Attire

For practice sessions at the competition rink, skaters are free to wear their regular practice attire. Some skaters may choose to practice in their competition outfit, but it not required.
Competition dresses or outfits must be purchased far in advance of the competition to allow for any alterations necessary to be made. It is the choice of the skater and parents of what the competition outfit looks like. Some skaters choose to purchase stock dresses/outfits and rhinestone them themselves while others purchase dresses/outfits already designed.
